Chow Chows are a unique breed and although they may look cute and fluffy on the outside, they are stubborn & very independent. Chow Chows tend to take the lead on walks, choosing a harness to avoid to much pull and keep you in control is essential. Paw protection
Keeping your Chow Chows paws protected during walks is crucial, especially in extreme weather conditions. In the hot weather, paths can become very hot, potentially causing burns and discomfort to your dog’s paws. We recommend not taking your dogs out during peak times of the day in the summer but even earlier or later in the day the path can be hot. (Please refer to our blog ‘Chow Chow’s during the summer’ for more information) During the winter months protecting your Chow against ice, snow, and de-icing chemicals that can be very harmful can lead to cracked or bleeding paw pads. To protect them, consider using dog booties which act as a barrier against the cold.
